Its resistance to moisture absorption—typically less than 0.02% by weight—ensures dimensional stability and mechanical performance in humid or wet conditions, distinguishing it from hydrophilic polymers like nylon or polycarbonate. Moreover, PP is inherently resistant to UV radiation and weathering when stabilized with additives, making it suitable for outdoor applications such as furniture, signage, and agricultural films. Nevertheless, prolonged exposure to UV radiation without stabilizers can lead to surface degradation, reduced mechanical strength, and a yellowish discoloration, highlighting the importance of incorporating UV stabilizers in exterior-grade PP formulations.
