Introduction
UPE sheet, also known as ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene sheet, is a high-performance engineering plastic sheet made primarily from ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE). Ultra high molecular weight polyethylene is a thermoplastic engineering plastic with excellent comprehensive properties and a linear structure. Its molecular weight is usually above 1.5 million, and can even reach around 10 million. This high molecular weight property endows UPE sheets with many unique properties.
From the perspective of molecular structure, ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene molecular chains are highly entangled, which increases the sliding resistance between molecular chains, thereby endowing the material with excellent wear resistance, impact resistance, and self-lubricating properties. During the polymerization process, advanced catalysts and polymerization techniques are used to precisely control the molecular weight and molecular weight distribution, in order to obtain the best performing UHMWPE raw materials for manufacturing UPE sheets.
The production process of UPE sheet is diverse, commonly including compression molding, extrusion molding, etc. Compression molding is the process of pressing UHMWPE powder through molds at high temperatures and pressures, making it suitable for producing complex shaped boards. Extrusion molding is the process of heating and melting UHMWPE raw materials, and extruding them into sheets through an extruder. This method is suitable for large-scale continuous production and has good dimensional stability of the sheets. In addition, UPE Sheet has good self-lubricating properties, allowing for smooth material transportation without the need for additional lubricants during conveyor operation. This not only simplifies the maintenance work of the equipment, but also avoids the contamination of materials by lubricants and improves the quality of materials.
