Rough surface high-density polyethylene (HDPE) sheet is a functional engineering plastic sheet made by surface texture modification and high-density polyethylene substrate optimization. Its core substrate is high-density polyethylene (density ≥ 0.941 g/cm³), and a controllable rough surface structure (such as granular, orange peel, diamond pattern, etc.) is formed on one or both sides of the sheet through a special extrusion or calendering process.
HDPE itself is a thermoplastic resin made by polymerization of ethylene monomers, with excellent chemical resistance, impact resistance and environmental stress cracking resistance. On this basis, the rough surface HDPE sheet further enhances its anti-slip, wear resistance, weather resistance and visual texture through surface microstructure design (roughness Ra is usually 50-200 μm), becoming a multi-scenario application material that takes into account both functionality and aesthetics.
Production process:
Substrate molding: High molecular weight HDPE (HMWHDPE) is used through a single screw extruder to melt and extrude at high temperature to ensure that there are no bubbles and stress inside the plate
Surface treatment:
Mechanical grinding: Diamond grinding wheel or sandblasting process is used to form roughness
Embossed roller molding: Regular textures are pressed out by engraved rollers in the hot state of the plate
Chemical etching: Acid pickling or plasma treatment is used to form micron-level pores to enhance surface adhesion
Appearance characteristics:
Color: Customizable, frosted surface reduces reflectivity (gloss <10 GU)
Texture type: fine sand texture, coarse grain texture, anti-slip stripes, etc.
Rough surface HDPE sheet achieves significant improvement in anti-skid, wear resistance and chemical resistance through synergistic optimization of surface microstructure and substrate performance, while maintaining the advantages of lightweight and easy processing. Physical and mechanical properties
Density: 0.94-0.96 g/cm³, lighter than PP (polypropylene) and PVC.
Tensile strength: 20-30 MPa, flexural strength 25-40 MPa, suitable for low-load structural parts.
Impact strength: >50 kJ/m² (notched Izod), low-temperature brittle temperature -70°C, no cracking in extremely cold environments.
Hardness: Shore D 60-65, surface wear resistance is better than ordinary HDPE (wear loss <40mg/1000 turns).
Thermal properties
Continuous use temperature: -50°C ~ +80°C (short-term resistance to 100°C).
Heat deformation temperature (0.45MPa): 70-80°C, long-term high temperature load should be avoided.
Linear expansion coefficient: 1.5-2.0×10⁻⁴/°C, expansion joints should be reserved during installation.
Chemical stability
Corrosion resistance: resistant to 98% of acids and alkalis (except concentrated nitric acid and sulfuric acid), salt solutions, organic solvents (alcohols, greases)
Environmental stress cracking resistance (ESCR): >1000 hours, suitable for chemical container linings.
