HDPE rods are solid or thick-walled rectangular cross-section profiles made of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) through high-temperature extrusion. Its molecular structure has highly linear arrangement and extremely low branching characteristics, giving the material excellent crystallinity (usually 80%-95%) and density. As a semi-crystalline thermoplastic engineering plastic, HDPE rods have become an ideal choice for replacing metals, wood and other plastics in the industrial field due to its unique comprehensive properties, especially suitable for highly corrosive, high-wear and hygiene-sensitive environments.
Performance Characteristics
Chemical corrosion resistance:
It has strong tolerance to most inorganic acids, alkalis, salt solutions (such as hydrochloric acid, hydrofluoric acid, phosphoric acid, sodium hydroxide, etc.) and organic solvents (alcohols, aldehydes), and its corrosion resistance far exceeds that of carbon steel and stainless steel (especially in chloride ion environments), and it does not swell or stress crack, and has a long service life.
Impact toughness:
Even at low temperatures of -50°C, it still maintains excellent impact strength (notch impact strength>10 kJ/m²), without the risk of brittle fracture, and is suitable for dynamic load and vibration environments.
Wear resistance and low friction coefficient:
The surface is smooth (dynamic friction coefficient 0.1~0.3), and it has self-lubricating properties. The wear resistance is 6~7 times that of carbon steel, which effectively reduces the resistance and noise of equipment operation.
Lightweight and high specific strength:
The density is only 0.94~0.98 g/cm³ (about 1/8 of steel), and the unit weight strength is high, which greatly reduces the equipment load and energy consumption.
Hygiene and safety:
Non-toxic, in compliance with FDA 21 CFR 177.1520, EU 10/2011 food contact standards and NSF/ANSI 61 drinking water certification, no precipitate contamination of the medium.
Electrical insulation:
Volume resistivity>10¹⁶ Ω·cm, dielectric strength>20 kV/mm, suitable for electrical components with high insulation requirements.
Environmental adaptability:
UV aging resistance (including stabilizer formula), moisture-proof, no bacteria breeding, stable performance in humid, outdoor and clean environments.
Processing convenience:
Can be machined by turning, milling, drilling, sawing, etc., the thermoforming temperature range is 120~150°C, and supports welding (hot air, extrusion welding) and bonding.
