Silicone offers many advantages over other forms of elastomers. It is well known for its use in food, pharmaceutical, and other clean industry applications. Some grades of silicone rubber can remain flexible and show low levels of compression set, down to temperatures as low as -100 °C and as high as 315 °C. It is naturally electrically insulating but can be compounded to offer high resistance for the bleeding of static charges or to offer a low resistance to conduct signal voltages. High tear resistance, good elongation at break, and tensile strength are some of the other characteristics of silicone.

Silicone will keep constant even at high temperatures, but should not be used with high-pressure steam. Silicone has excellent heat resistance (dry air), at +200°C intermittent and will remain flexible at low temperatures of -70°C, and is also resistant to ultraviolet light, Ozone, sea water, and weathering. It can directly contact food (such as baking molds, tableware handles), baby products (teething gums, pacifiers) and medical equipment (protective gear, catheters), and its safety performance can withstand strict testing.

2. High and low temperature resistance, strong environmental adaptability

The molecular structure of the silicone rod is stable and can be used for a long time in the extreme temperature range of -50℃ to 250℃ (some special formulas can withstand high temperatures of 300℃), and maintain elasticity, strength and anti-aging properties within this range:

No softening/decomposition at high temperatures: In high temperature scenes such as ovens, microwave ovens, and industrial ovens, it will not deform or release harmful substances like plastic (PVC/PE);

No brittleness/cracking at low temperatures: In freezers and outdoor cold environments, it can still maintain flexibility, avoiding the problem of ordinary rubber (nitrile rubber) becoming hard and brittle at low temperatures.

3. Good elasticity, fatigue resistance and wear resistance

Silicone rods have excellent resilience (compression permanent deformation rate is as low as less than 5%) and tear strength (tensile strength can reach 3~10MPa when Shore A hardness is 30~80). Even if they are repeatedly bent, squeezed or subjected to pressure, they can quickly return to their original state, and their lifespan far exceeds that of ordinary rubber or plastic:

Fatigue resistance: Industrial shock pads, mechanical seals and other scenes that are subjected to long-term vibration/pressure are not easy to age and crack;

Wear resistance: In high-frequency friction scenes such as electronic equipment buttons and kitchen anti-slip mats, the surface is not easy to fuzz or fall off.

4. High chemical stability and strong weather resistance

Silicone rods have good tolerance to most chemicals (such as oils, weak acids, weak bases, alcohol, and lubricants), and are not easy to swell, corrode, or change color:

Oil and solvent resistant: When exposed to engine oil and lubricants in industrial equipment, they will not soften or swell (better than nitrile rubber);

Excellent weather resistance: Long-term exposure to ultraviolet rays, ozone, and humid environments outdoors will not easily turn yellow or powder (ordinary rubber ages in 1 to 2 years, and silicone rods can be used for 5 to 10 years).

5. Flexible processing to meet diverse needs

Silicone rods can be customized according to customer needs in terms of hardness (Shore A 10 to 90), color (any Pantone color number), size (diameter 5mm to 100mm, length can be cut as needed), and processed into various shapes (such as gaskets, rods, and special-shaped parts) through cutting, stamping, molding, extrusion and other processes. Its processing characteristics reduce the secondary development costs of customers:

Soft silicone (Shore A10~30): suitable for baby products (teething gel), medical protective gear (cushion pads) and other scenes that require a soft touch;
