MC nylon machined parts (Monomer Casting Nylon Machined Part) are functional parts made of caprolactam (Caprolactam) as the monomer raw material, which are directly cast into blanks through anionic polymerization reaction, and then processed by CNC milling, turning, drilling, grinding and other precision machining. MC nylon is a special form of nylon 6 (polyamide 6). Through the monomer direct casting process, it can form large-sized, complex structures and high-internal crystallinity parts. It has the general advantages of nylon materials and the flexibility of casting processes. It is widely used in high-load, high-wear-resistant and chemical-resistant technical fields.
Compared with injection-molded nylon parts, MC nylon blanks can be cast into large-sized (up to several meters) or thick-walled (thickness > 100mm) parts through a single casting, avoiding the flow and filling restrictions during the injection molding process; after machining, high-precision dimensional control (tolerance ±0.05-0.1mm) and complex feature processing (such as deep holes, special-shaped grooves, threads, etc.) can be achieved, which is especially suitable for heavy machinery, mining equipment and other scenes with strict requirements on material strength and wear resistance.

Core characteristics
Excellent mechanical properties
High strength and rigidity: tensile strength can reach 70-90MPa (close to the strength of metal aluminum), bending strength 80-110MPa, can replace some metal materials (such as aluminum alloy, zinc alloy) to achieve lightweight design.
High hardness and wear resistance: Rockwell hardness (HRC) is about 11-13, surface wear resistance is better than ordinary plastics (friction coefficient is as low as 0.15-0.3, wear rate is reduced by more than 50% when grinding against steel), suitable for high-load sliding and friction scenes.
Toughness and impact resistance: notched impact strength ≥5kJ/m² (normal temperature), can still maintain high toughness in low temperature environment (-20℃), not easy to crack.
 
Self-lubricating and low friction characteristics
The internal molecular chain contains polar amide groups (-CONH-), which can form a transfer film under oil-free lubrication conditions, significantly reducing the friction coefficient (the friction coefficient when grinding against steel is about 0.15-0.2, which is only 1/5 of steel-steel friction).
Suitable for scenarios where lubricants cannot be added frequently (such as mining machinery bearings, food conveyor rails), reducing maintenance costs and improving operating efficiency.
 
Chemical corrosion resistance and environmental resistance
Acid and alkali resistance: It has good tolerance to non-oxidizing acids (such as dilute hydrochloric acid, phosphoric acid), weak alkalis (such as ammonia water) and organic solvents (such as ethanol, acetone) (can be used for a long time in the pH range of 3-9), but is not resistant to strong oxidizing acids (such as concentrated sulfuric acid, nitric acid).
Oil resistance and water resistance: Long-term immersion in lubricating oil, hydraulic oil or water (including seawater) will not cause swelling or performance degradation (volume change rate <0.5%).
Temperature resistance: The long-term use temperature range is -40℃ to +120℃, and the short-term tolerance peak temperature can reach 150℃ (the continuous use temperature is recommended to be ≤100℃ to avoid thermal deformation caused by long-term high temperature).

Processing flexibility and molding advantages​
The casting process can form large sizes (maximum blank size can reach 2000mm×1500mm×500mm) or complex structure blanks (such as with reinforcing ribs, hollow cavities), and can achieve high-precision dimensional control (tolerance ±0.05-0.1mm) and fine features (minimum aperture ≥2mm, minimum slot width ≥1mm) after machining.
Supports subsequent surface treatment (such as impregnation with lubricating oil, hard chrome plating, spraying wear-resistant coating) to further improve wear resistance or corrosion resistance.
 
Lightweight and economical​
The density is about 1.15g/cm³ (about 1/7 of steel and 1/2 of aluminum), which can significantly reduce the weight of parts and is suitable for equipment with high weight reduction requirements (such as aerospace auxiliary structures and new energy vehicle brackets).
The cost of raw materials is low (the unit price of caprolactam is lower than that of engineering plastic PA66), and the waste from the casting process can be recycled and reused (recycling rate>90%), and the comprehensive manufacturing cost is lower than that of metal or high-end engineering plastics.
