Equipment Structure
An intermediate frequency furnace is systematically composed of four integrated subsystems: a power supply system, furnace body, cooling system, and control system.
The power supply system is built around an intermediate frequency power unit, which incorporates a rectifier, filter, and inverter. This assembly converts standard industrial-frequency AC into intermediate frequency AC power, operating within the range of 150–1000 Hz.
The furnace body includes an induction coil, refractory lining, and structural frame. The induction coil is fabricated from high-conductivity copper tubing, ensuring efficient energy transfer and thermal performance. The lining is constructed from either acid or alkaline refractories, chosen according to the melting material to provide thermal insulation and safely contain molten metal. The surrounding frame offers robust mechanical support and alignment.
A closed-loop water cooling system—comprising pumps, cooling towers, piping, and flow sensors—dissipates heat from critical components such as the induction coil and power semiconductors, maintaining safe operating temperatures.
The control system integrates a PLC and touch-screen HMI, allowing precise regulation of current, voltage, temperature, and melting time. It also incorporates comprehensive safety protections against overcurrent, overvoltage, and cooling water failure.
