Hastelloy B2 Alloy Round Bar

Hastelloy B2 round bar is a corrosion-resistant alloy (nickel-molybdenum mixed crystal) with proven minimum iron and chromium contents. It exhibits excellent reduction resistance, resistance to a wide range of organic acids, and good resistance to hydrochloric acid over a wide range of concentrations and temperatures.

Hastelloy B2 round bar exhibits good tensile and crevice corrosion resistance due to its low carbon and silicon contents (which reduce carbide precipitation in the heated weld zone), providing adequate corrosion resistance even in the welded state.

Hastelloy B2, also known as Alloy B2, is a nickel-molybdenum solid solution-hardening alloy that increases strength at high temperatures. Molybdenum, as an alloying element, provides excellent reduction resistance and prevents the formation of grain boundary carbide precipitation in the heat-affected zone.

Hastelloy B2 is a grade of Hastelloy, a nickel-molybdenum alloy. There are many different grades of Hastelloy, including B2. Each grade is optimized for specific applications. Molybdenum makes Hastelloy harder and stronger at high temperatures. This alloying element and the properties it imparts to the material also make it well-suited for welding applications. These nickel alloys are easy to fabricate and form. They also have good ductility and are capable of cold working. All Hastelloy grades are considered corrosion-resistant alloys because each grade exhibits excellent resistance to a wide range of corrosive environments. Hastelloy's excellent resistance to strong oxidizing corrosives, such as oxidizing salts and reducing agents, makes it an ideal alloy for applications in moderately to severely corrosive environments.
