"Be extra careful when machining carbon fiber boards—this stuff is hard and brittle, totally different from regular metal! Here are some common pitfalls to watch out for:

1. Tools must be hard enough

Don’t force it with ordinary blades—they’ll chip in seconds! Use diamond-coated or carbide tools, like the kind for cutting tiles. For drilling, use carbon fiber-specific drill bits. Regular bits will dull instantly.

2. The dust is super toxic

The black powder from sanding is dangerous if inhaled! Always wear a mask + goggles, and ideally have a vacuum running nearby to capture dust. Workshop ventilation is a must—this dust is finer than PM2.5 and can irritate your skin on contact.

3. Avoid cracking

When drilling, always place a wooden board underneath. Slow down as you near breakthrough, or the back side will splinter. Practice on scrap material first to get a feel for the pressure.

4. Temperature control

Don’t use excessively high RPMs when cutting—heat can melt the resin and gum up the tool. Keep it below 10,000 rpm, and stop if the board feels hot to the touch.

5. Edge handling

Freshly cut edges are razor-sharp! Always sand them down (coarse to fine grit), or you’ll get cut just by brushing against them.

6. Adhesive selection

Regular super glue (like 502) is useless for bonding! You must use epoxy resin, and roughen the surface with sanding before application."
