White PA6 rod is a general-purpose engineering plastic rod with balanced performance, high toughness, and easy processing. Its excellent mechanical properties, self-lubricating properties, processing flowability, and hygienic white appearance make it an ideal choice for applications in machinery, food, electronics, and consumer electronics where strength, wear resistance, and ease of processing are required. While it has limitations such as high hygroscopicity, limited heat resistance (general type ≤80℃), and chemical resistance limits, its applications can be further expanded through glass fiber reinforcement, toughening modification, high-temperature treatment, or food-grade optimization. In practical use, it is crucial to focus on moisture management (drying treatment) and heat resistance limitations, and to select appropriate modified models based on specific scenarios to fully leverage its core advantages of "balanced performance + aesthetically pleasing white color + economy."

  • Density: Approximately 1.15 g/cm³ (Heavier than water, but lower than most metals, such as aluminum at 2.7 g/cm³).
  • Appearance: White to light milky white, with a smooth, waxy surface.
  • Water Absorption: Moderate water absorption (equilibrium absorption rate approximately 1.5-2.5%). It swells slightly after absorbing water, affecting dimensional stability and mechanical properties (drying is usually required before processing).

Mechanical Properties
  • Tensile Strength: 50-80 MPa (Moderately high, capable of withstanding axial tension in small to medium-sized mechanical structures).
  • Flexural Strength: 70-100 MPa (Good rigidity, suitable for general load-bearing components).
  • Notched Impact Strength (Simply Supported Beam): 5-10 kJ/m² (Tougher than most plastics (such as POM, PC), but lower than UHMWPE; unreinforced impact resistance is average, but much stronger than brittle materials (such as PS).
  • Hardness: Shore D 70-80 (moderate surface hardness, softer than metals and some engineering plastics (such as POM), but harder than PP/PE).
 
Tribological Properties
  • Self-lubricating: Achieves low-friction operation without lubrication (coefficient of friction approximately 0.15-0.35 when paired with metals; can be reduced to 0.05-0.15 with the addition of molybdenum disulfide (MoS₂) or polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) fillers).
  • Abrasion Resistance: Superior to ordinary plastics (such as PP, PE, ABS), but lower than ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) and polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE); suitable for low-to-medium speed, medium-load friction scenarios (such as gears, guide rails).

Thermal Properties
  • Melting Point: Approximately 215-225℃ (crystalline plastic, narrow melting temperature range).
  • Heat distortion temperature (HDT): 50-70℃ (under 0.45MPa load, without reinforcement), short-term heat resistance up to 100-120℃ (HDT can be increased to 150-180℃ after reinforcement).
  • Long-term service temperature: ≤80℃ (ordinary PA6), short-term resistance up to 100℃ (e.g., for parts subjected to brief heating).
 
Chemical properties
  • Chemical resistance: Resistant to weak acids (e.g., dilute acetic acid), weak alkalis (e.g., dilute sodium hydroxide), water, and salt solutions; however, it will swell or experience performance degradation in strong acids (e.g., concentrated sulfuric acid, concentrated nitric acid), strong alkalis (e.g., long-term immersion in concentrated sodium hydroxide), aromatic hydrocarbons (e.g., toluene, xylene), and chlorinated hydrocarbons (e.g., carbon tetrachloride).
  • Oil resistance: Good resistance to mineral oil and lubricating oil (no swelling after short-term contact), but long-term immersion may cause slight swelling.

Other properties
  • Electrical insulation: Volume resistivity >10¹⁴ Ω·cm (medium insulation, suitable for low-voltage electrical components). Processing fluidity: Good fluidity in the molten state (easy to extrude and injection mold), shrinkage rate approximately 0.5-1.5% (dimensional deformation needs to be monitored after processing).
  • Effects of hygroscopicity: Dimensions will expand after absorbing water (linear expansion rate increases), tensile strength and hardness will decrease slightly, but impact toughness may increase slightly (it needs to be dried to a moisture content ≤0.3% to ensure optimal performance).
