The Tank 300 is a new car, representing Great Wall Motors' Tank brand's fusion of rugged off-road capability and urban commuting. It measures 4760mm in length and has a 2750mm wheelbase, featuring a boxy silhouette, round LED headlights with horizontal daytime running lights, and a drag coefficient of 0.38. With an externally mounted spare tire and smoked vertical taillights, it's shorter than a used Jeep Wrangler but more agile than a commercial vehicle like the Ford Transit, easily navigating underground parking garages without hitting the roof beam.

The interior is all-black, with a horizontally and vertically aligned center console. It features a 12.3-inch dual-screen display with CarPlay, below which is a row of aviation-style buttons. The seats are perforated faux leather, with power-adjustable front seats with lumbar support, and adjustable rear seatbacks that fold down in a 4/6 split, creating a nearly flat floor that comfortably seats three. The trunk has a standard capacity of 400L, expanding to 1.8m with the seats folded down, large enough to carry skis horizontally. Compared to other new energy vehicles, the battery doesn't encroach on the floor, resulting in a more organized and uncluttered cargo area.

The vehicle offers three powertrain options: a 2.0T gasoline engine, a 2.4T diesel engine, and a Hi4-T plug-in hybrid. The gasoline version boasts 227 horsepower with a 9-speed automatic transmission, achieving a combined fuel consumption of 9.9L/100km. The diesel version delivers 186 horsepower with high torque, making low-speed hill climbing easy. The Hi4-T system offers a combined power output of 300kW, a pure electric range of 105km, and a combined range of 860km, eliminating the need for charging on long journeys. The chassis is non-unibody, featuring a double wishbone front suspension and a multi-link rear suspension, part-time four-wheel drive with a low-range gear, a wading depth of 700mm, and the ability to extricate oneself from sand dunes with only one wheel on the ground. The steering retains mechanical hydraulic power steering, offering a heavier rebound than urban SUVs, ensuring stability at high speeds.

Parts are interchangeable with the Great Wall Cannon, ensuring widespread access to repair shops. Compared to commercial MPVs, it retains off-road four-wheel drive and a compact size; compared to used Prado vehicles, the new model adds vehicle connectivity and L2 driving assistance; compared to pure electric new energy vehicles, it can be refueled in just 3 minutes and ready to go, making it suitable for urban commuting, weekend camping, and high-altitude expeditions.
