Customized Engineering Plastic Derlin Sheet
Yellow POM (Polyoxymethylene) sheets are solid, flat engineering plastic materials made from polyoxymethylene (POM) as the base material through extrusion or compression molding processes. POM is a highly crystalline thermoplastic polymer with a molecular chain composed of repeating -CH₂-O- units, possessing a highly ordered molecular structure that endows the material with excellent rigidity, self-lubrication, and wear resistance.
The "yellow" color is achieved by adding yellow masterbatch, maintaining the core properties of the POM base material while meeting the visual needs of identification, aesthetic decoration, or specific industries (such as warning signs, electronic components, and laboratory equipment) through color design. Common thicknesses range from 1mm to 250mm, widths are generally within 1000mm, and lengths can be customized upon request.
Yellow POM sheets inherit the high rigidity, low coefficient of friction, chemical resistance, and dimensional stability of POM. At the same time, due to their yellow appearance, they are more suitable for scenarios with comprehensive requirements for wear resistance, self-lubrication, and visual warning/labeling (such as safety warning parts, electronic component carriers, and wear-resistant panels in laboratories). They are commonly used engineering plastic sheets in the mechanical, electronic, chemical, and civil fields where high strength, wear resistance, and ease of processing are required.
Core Characteristics of POM Sheets
Basic Physical Properties
- Density: Approximately 1.42 g/cm³.
- Appearance: Standard color is milky white or natural color. Yellow POM sheets are colored with masterbatch to achieve a uniform yellow hue. The surface is smooth and glossy.
- Water Absorption: Extremely low hygroscopicity, almost unaffected by ambient humidity.
Mechanical Properties
- Tensile Strength: 60-80 MPa.
- Flexural Strength: 90-120 MPa.
- Notched Impact Strength of Simply Supported Beam: 2-5 kJ/m².
- Hardness: Rockwell hardness (R) approximately 120-130.
Tribological Properties
- Self-Lubricating Properties: Achieves low-friction operation without lubrication, making it a "plastic steel" level self-lubricating material.
- Abrasion Resistance: Extremely high, superior to common engineering plastics such as PA6, ABS, and PC. Suitable for medium-to-high speed, medium-load friction scenarios.
Thermal Properties
- Heat Deflection Temperature (HDT): 110-130℃, short-term heat resistance up to 150-160℃.
- Long-term service temperature: ≤100-120℃, short-term resistance up to 140-150℃.
- Melting temperature: Approximately 165-175℃.
- Decomposition temperature: Approximately 200-220℃.
Chemical Properties
- Chemical resistance: Good resistance to water, alcohols, weak acids, and weak bases; however sensitive to strong acids, strong bases, aromatic hydrocarbons, and chlorinated hydrocarbons.
- Oil resistance: Excellent resistance to mineral oils and lubricating oils, suitable for parts in contact with grease.
Electrical Properties
- Electrical insulation: Good insulating material! Volume resistivity > 10¹⁴ Ω·cm, dielectric strength ≥ 18 kV/mm, and insulation performance remains almost unchanged in humid environments.
- Dielectric constant: Approximately 3.0-3.2.
Core Applications of Yellow POM Sheets
Precision Machinery and Automation
- Wear-resistant transmission components: Gears (low speed/small to medium load), bearing cages, guide rail sliders (self-lubricating and wear-resistant, replacing metal parts to reduce friction noise).
- Jigs and fixtures: Positioning fixtures and assembly tooling in machining (sufficient rigidity to support small to medium parts, and easy to process complex shapes).
- Lightweight structural components: Equipment bases, guardrail posts (high rigidity, good dimensional stability, suitable for supporting small to medium loads).
Electronic and Electrical Equipment
- Insulating support components: Insulating partitions for high and low voltage switchgear, cable brackets, junction box housings (excellent electrical insulation, and temperature resistance meets general electrical requirements).
- Electronic Component Carriers: Internal support plates for instruments and meters (such as sensor mounts, circuit board supports). Yellow color facilitates identification of different functional modules or serves as a warning color (e.g., high-pressure area indication).
Chemical Industry and Laboratories
- Corrosion-Resistant Structural Components: Support frames for acid and alkali storage tanks, pipe connection flanges (resistant to dilute acids/alkalis, such as sulfuric acid and sodium hydroxide solutions with a concentration ≤80%).
- Laboratory Equipment: Wear-resistant panels for chemical workbenches, reagent rack frames (resistant to corrosion from common chemical reagents; yellow color is easy to clean and highly visible).
Safety Warnings and Signs
- Warning Components: Protective railings for factory equipment, edges of workbenches (yellow is an internationally recognized safety warning color, alerting users to potential collisions or dangerous areas).
- Identification Panels: Functional partitions for equipment operating interfaces (such as button areas and switch labels; yellow background improves visibility).
Everyday Industrial and Consumer Goods
- Home Appliance Accessories: Internal support frames for washing machines/refrigerators, fan blade mounts (good water resistance; yellow color enhances product identification).
- Everyday product components: support structure for eyeglass frames, base material for stationery (such as rulers and measuring tools) (lightweight, durable and easy to mold; yellow is suitable for creative designs).
