How to use Iron Oxide? Iron oxide pigment can be added directly to cement as a coloring agent, or it can be mixed with glue or latex. Generally, the pigment is added at about 5%-10% of the cement weight, with a sand-to-cement ratio of about 2:1. First, mix the cement and pigment powder evenly, then add sand and water and mix. Use a mixer or electric drill with a mixing stick to stir for about 20 minutes until the color effect is achieved.
