Prepainted Spot Wrinkle Galvanized Steel for Roofings

Spot wrinkle (orange peel) coated steel is manufactured by applying a polyester or fluorocarbon coating onto galvanized (PPGI) or aluminum-zinc alloy-coated (PPGL) substrates using a controlled roller coating process that creates a uniform textured surface through differential curing. This texture reduces the visibility of handling marks, minor scratches, and surface irregularities, making it suitable for applications where aesthetic consistency is required over large exposed areas. The coating system typically includes a chromate-free pretreatment, epoxy primer, and textured topcoat with a dry film thickness of 20–30 μm. Substrate options include hot-dip galvanized steel (Zinc coating mass: 60–275 g/m²) or 55% aluminum-zinc alloy-coated steel (coating mass: 100–200 g/m²). The wrinkle pattern is classified according to texture depth (typically 10–50 μm) and gloss level (≤30 GU at 60°). This finish provides improved slip resistance compared to smooth coatings and exhibits lower light reflection. Performance characteristics include adhesion (cross-cut test ≥Gt1 per ISO 2409), impact resistance (≥9 J), and salt spray resistance (≥500 h to red rust for C4 environments). The textured surface may accumulate dust or contaminants more readily than smooth finishes; periodic cleaning with low-pressure water is recommended. Fabrication should avoid sharp bending (minimum bend radius ≥4T) and abrasive contact to preserve coating integrity. The product is intended for non-structural cladding applications such as fencing, roofing, and wall panels, and must be installed in accordance with relevant building standards for wind load, thermal movement, and drainage.
