Key elements of gas regulation preservation
① Maximum gas displacement rate
Gas replacement refers to the process of using vacuum pumps to evacuate air from packaging containers or employing airflow displacement through gas displacement methods. This process replaces the air in the packaging with a mixture of preservation gases (such as oxygen, carbon dioxide, and nitrogen) in specific proportions. The higher the gas replacement rate, the more precise the proportion of preservation gases introduced, making it easier to control food's shelf life and storage duration. Different packaging formats require appropriate replacement solutions, with the final gas mixture ratio inside the container serving as the sole criterion for quality inspection.
Carbon dioxide (CO2) serves as the primary component in modified atmosphere packaging, effectively inhibiting bacterial and fungal growth. The precision of CO2 concentration directly determines food shelf life. The most advanced equipment for gas blending achieves a high accuracy of ±2% in customized gas mixtures.

High-barrier material is an important part of modified atmosphere packaging, which can ensure that the mixed preservation gas inside the package does not leak out and the outside gas does not penetrate.
④ Appropriate Storage temperature
The benefits of modified atmosphere packaging for food preservation are based on maintaining consistent environmental conditions. At low temperatures, carbon dioxide's antimicrobial effect is significantly enhanced, while microbial growth slows down and food respiration decreases. The recommended cold storage temperature range is 0-4°C.
⑤ Favorable Sealing effect
Clear and complete sealing pattern is the first element of packaging. Poor sealing (narrow or wrinkled pattern, with bubbles) will cause the preservation gas to leak out, resulting in a significant reduction in the preservation period of food, and even affect the brand image of the product.
⑥ Coincident gas mixture scale
However, when storage temperatures are identical but gas environments differ, food quality and shelf life can vary significantly. In modified atmosphere packaging for food preservation, we require that the proportion of preservation gas in all packages within each batch be maintained consistently. The error rate of preservation gas proportion in each package must be ≤1%. This ensures consistent food quality under identical time and temperature conditions, thereby preventing long-term economic losses caused by subtle yet significant quality deterioration.
