Preparation before installation
Prepare accessories: 5586963F cooler body, new oil cooler gasket, 2 O-rings, antifreeze, clean hydraulic fluid, torque wrench
Tools: 13/14/15mm socket, torque wrench, cleaning agent, rag
Safety: Ensure the engine is completely cooled, power off, and drain all oil and antifreeze to avoid burns and leaks.
Removing the old cooler (brief):
Disconnect the cooler's inlet and outlet water pipes and oil lines. Use a container to collect any remaining oil.
Remove the fixing bolts and remove the old cooler.
Thoroughly clean the engine block mating surfaces: old gaskets, oil stains, and impurities must be completely removed.
Check the cylinder block oil and water passages for blockages and corrosion.
5586963F Installation Steps (core):
Install the O-rings:
Apply a small amount of engine oil to the two O-ring grooves on the oil side of the cooler. Insert the new O-rings, ensuring they are not twisted or detached.
Install the sealing gasket. Align the new sealing gasket with the locating pin and fit it against the cylinder block mating surface. Do not use old gaskets or apply excessive adhesive.
Install the cooler. Align the 5586963F cooler body with the cylinder block locating pin and push it in smoothly. Do not pry or bump the aluminum heat sink fins.
Tighten the bolts diagonally (critical torque). Tighten the fixing bolts evenly in two diagonal stages. First pre-tightening: 30–35 N·m. Final torque: 48–54 N·m. Do not apply force on one side; excessive torque may crack the aluminum casing.
Connect the water and oil lines. Ensure the water line clamps are tightened, the lines are not twisted or compressed, and the interface seals are intact.
Adding and Bleeding, Test Run
Add engine oil and antifreeze to the standard level.
Run at idle for 5-10 minutes, open the radiator cap to bleed the air, and check the cooler connections for oil and water leaks.
Road test/load operation: Normal oil temperature, stable coolant temperature, and no leaks indicate successful installation.
Precautions
Use brand new gaskets and O-rings; reusing old parts greatly increases the risk of oil and water leaks.
Do not strike or forcefully compress the aluminum housing; fin deformation will lead to poor heat dissipation.
Bleed the air after installation; air blockage in the water channels will cause high temperatures and cylinder scoring.
5586963F is for X15 engines only and cannot be used with ISM/M11 engine coolers.
