Aluminum Alloy 3003 is an Al-Mn series alloy and is the most widely used type of rust-proof aluminum. This alloy possesses relatively low strength (slightly higher than commercially pure aluminum) and cannot be strengthened via heat treatment; therefore, cold working methods are employed to enhance its mechanical properties. It exhibits high plasticity in the annealed state, retains good plasticity in the semi-cold-worked state, but shows reduced plasticity in the fully cold-worked state. It features excellent corrosion resistance and good weldability, though its machinability is poor. Embossed aluminum sheets of this alloy are primarily utilized for applications requiring high plasticity and good weldability—specifically for low-load components operating within liquid or gaseous media. Examples include fuel tanks, gasoline or lubricant conduits, various liquid containers, and other light-load parts produced via deep drawing; wire forms of this alloy are used to manufacture rivets.
