This backplane receptacle complies with IEC 60603-2 standards, featuring a Type B configuration with 2 rows of 8 contacts each on a 2.54mm grid. The 16 position design offers a balanced solution between compact size and signal count, suitable for applications that do not require full 32 or 64 pin versions. The insulator is molded from high temperature UL94 V-0 PBT or glass filled polyester, providing excellent dimensional stability and mechanical strength up to 125°C. Female contacts are stamped from phosphor bronze with selective gold plating of 0.8 microns on the mating area and pure tin on the solder tails, utilizing a tuning fork or hyperboloid spring design for low insertion force and reliable gas tight connection. Key specifications include current rating 2A per contact, contact resistance below 20 milliohms, insulation resistance above 1000 megohms, dielectric strength 1000V AC, and operating temperature from -55 to +125 degrees Celsius. The vertical orientation allows direct mounting onto backplane boards. RoHS and REACH compliant, UL recognized under E472792.

Applications include industrial automation controllers, medical imaging equipment, telecommunications subracks, test and measurement instruments, and embedded computing modules where medium density backplane connectivity is required. Usage method: solder the through hole tails to the PCB using wave or hand soldering. The receptacle mates with a corresponding DIN 41612 Type B right angle male plug, providing a rugged, blind mateable connection. The 16 position layout simplifies PCB routing compared to higher pin count versions. Precautions: do not exceed 2A per contact, ensure proper alignment before mating, avoid excessive insertion force (typical max 30N). Production process: in house mold design, injection molding on 10 Japanese and Taiwanese machines, high speed stamping of female contacts on 9 presses, selective gold and tin plating, automated contact insertion, 100 percent insertion force and coplanarity inspection, contact resistance and insulation tests, 48 hour salt spray test, and final QC with lot traceability.
