K5V140DTP-9C12 is Kawasaki tandem variable displacement swashplate axial piston pump, widely adopted as the main hydraulic power unit for 30-ton class medium & large crawler excavators.

This twin pump assembly features built-in PTO power take-off interface for auxiliary pump installation. The suffix code 9C12 defines oil port layout, regulator assembly, spline shaft specification, rotation direction and mounting dimensions. High-quality interchange aftermarket pumps are available as economical replacement parts for equipment overhaul.

3. Working Principle

The engine drives the main shaft and cylinder block assembly to rotate. The reciprocating motion of pistons completes oil suction and high-pressure oil discharge.

The internal servo piston adjusts the tilt angle of the swashplate automatically according to load signals, changing pump displacement to regulate output flow. The PTO port can transmit power to drive pilot pump or auxiliary hydraulic components.

Negative flow control optimizes power matching between engine and hydraulic system, reducing power loss and fuel consumption.

6. Common Faults & Replacement Suggestion

Typical failures: Insufficient digging force, slow boom & arm movement, excessive internal leakage, abnormal knocking noise, shaft seal oil leakage.

Thoroughly flush hydraulic pipelines and replace all hydraulic filter elements before installation. Strictly maintain hydraulic oil cleanliness. Replace the whole pump assembly when cylinder block, piston shoes, valve plate and other friction components suffer severe abrasion.
