The tea garden is located in the high mountains of Bingdao, Mengku. It enjoys high altitude, abundant cloud and mist, and a large temperature difference between day and night. The soil is rich in minerals within the original ecological mountain forest, with excessive chemical fertilizers and pesticides avoided. Ancient tea trees take root deep in the mountains and absorb nutrients slowly, forming the signature sweet and fresh taste of Bingdao tea.
Raw materials are harvested from century-old Bingdao ancient tea trees with aged, sturdy trunks. Deep-reaching root systems absorb abundant inner substances. The buds and leaves are plump with visible white trichomes. Ancient tree tea delivers multi-layered aroma and full-bodied flavour. The liquor carries unique rock sugar sweetness, which cannot be matched by terrace-grown tea.
High-quality fresh leaves of one bud and two leaves are hand-picked from ancient trees every spring. Tea farmers carefully select plump and tender shoots with gentle picking and handling to prevent damage to fresh tea leaves. The picked fresh leaves are spread and aired promptly to preserve the natural aroma and nutrients, laying a solid foundation for subsequent sun-drying processing.
Fresh leaves are made into crude tea via Yunnan’s traditional sun-drying process, then compressed into 8g compact small square slices. The tea strips are clear, dark green and glossy with silvery white tea hairs visible. Each slice is individually packed in aluminium foil to lock aroma and resist moisture. One slice perfectly fits a 110ml gaiwan. No more trouble prying conventional tea cakes. Portable and easy to store, great for brewing while travelling, working or on business trips.
The complete set includes a tea box plus a matching carry bag. It adopts minimalist Chinese style in deep brown colour with elegant hot-stamped gold “Bingdao” characters. 25 individually packed small square slices are neatly arranged inside the box, with hygienic aluminium foil sachets for each piece.
