This product is made from fresh spring leaves picked from century-old ancient tea trees in the high-altitude ancient tea gardens of Mengku Daxue Mountain. After a whole winter of dormancy, the tea trees accumulate abundant nutrients. The spring buds and leaves are tender and plump, rich in internal substances. The ancient tea trees have deep roots that stretch into the mountain soil, absorbing minerals and cloud and mist moisture from the forest. The tea carries a pure mountain charm with clean taste, making it the finest raw material of tea in a whole year. You can also explore our ancient tree raw puerh tea from Mengku mountain for more wild tea flavour.

As a characteristic traditional black tea from Yunnan, ancient tree sun-dried black tea follows a unique craft. After withering, gentle rolling and full fermentation, the tea is not dried by high-temperature machine baking. Instead, it is slowly air-dried under natural sunlight in the dry and ventilated environment of Yunnan plateau. This low-temperature sun curing retains the natural active substances of tea to the maximum extent, removing the burnt and roasted taste common in ordinary baked black tea. The tea liquor is milder and sweeter, and it can be stored for a long time and mellows with aging. Check our Yunnan ripe puerh tea collection if you prefer aged fermented tea.

The dry tea strips are tight, slender and well-shaped with plump buds. The colour is dark and glossy, covered with abundant golden fine hairs. Few broken pieces or impurities can be found. The dry tea releases natural sweet honey aroma and light floral-fruity scent, without burnt, stuffy or odd smells. It presents premium and natural appearance. Our high mountain organic tea series shares the same high ecological standard of raw material planting.

The brewed tea liquor is clear and bright, showing gorgeous amber-orange colour with oily luster. It tastes smooth and mellow, with almost no bitterness or astringency. The tea soup is full-bodied. After swallowing, sweet aftertaste appears in the mouth, and rock sugar sweetness lingers in the throat. It can withstand multiple infusions, and the sweet flavour remains stable after many steeps. Its elegant honey and fruity fragrance stays long in the gaiwan lid. Try our GABA black tea for another mild relaxing black tea option.
