High temperature applications potential
PEEK is a well-known high performance thermoplastic for high temperature applications. Natural PEEK rod can be used as an alternative for machinery components and industrial parts that are subject to severe thermal condition. Natural PEEK, GF30 PEEK and CF30 PEEK: Which Grade Should You Choose?
AHD offers Unfilled Natural PEEK Plastic Rod and Glass Fiber Filled PEEK Rod (GF30) and carbon-fiber-reinforced PEEK (CF30). These grades are not to be confused with each other.
Natural PEEK: The unfilled grade is a starting point for applications that require the properties of the base polymer without glass- or carbonfiber reinforcement. Depending on design and operating conditions it may be suitable for a variety of machined industrial parts.
GF30 PEEK: The addition of glass fiber reinforcement typically enhances stiffness and can increase dimensional stability under the right conditions. This grade may be considered for components requiring more rigidity but effects on wear, friction and mating surfaces should also be considered.
CF30 PEEK: Carbon fiber reinforcement can enhance stiffness and tailor mechanical, thermal and tribological properties. Depending on the recorded properties of the grade and design requirements it may be considered for selected demanding engineering or wear related applications.
