Spheroidizing agent, also known as rare earth magnesium ferrosilicon alloy, is mainly used for ductile iron. After adding molten iron, it can be used for spheroidization, desulfurization and degassing, and can improve the purity of casting water. It can also react with low melting point impurities such as arsenic, zinc, lead, etc. to generate compounds with lower melting points that do not melt in iron, eliminating these impurities and preventing interference elements from damaging spheroidization.

How to choose the right spheroidizing agent

The correct method for selecting spheroidizing agents is to follow the manufacturer's usage requirements

1. For the melting of pearl shaped cast ductile iron castings in a medium frequency furnace, magnesium based spheroidizing agents with a magnesium content of 6% to 7% can be used. The appropriate amount of spheroidizing agent can be determined based on the wall thickness of the casting and the sulfur content of the original molten iron, with a wide range of applications and spheroidizing treatment processes;

2. For medium frequency furnace melting and low sulfur iron liquid spheroidization treatment, low magnesium spheroidizing agents with magnesium contents of 4%, 5%, and 5.5% should be selected, which can slow down the spheroidization reaction and facilitate the full absorption of spheroidizing elements;

3. When using a blast furnace for melting, try to choose high magnesium content spheroidizing agents. Generally, iron liquid with a sulfur content of 0.06% -0.09% is required, and the amount of spheroidizing agent added should be between 1.6% -2.0%;

If the production gradually tends to produce subcutaneous pores or has requirements for the aluminum content of the iron liquid, low aluminum spheroidizing agents should be purchased for use;

5. If you need a large amount of recycled materials, you should choose low silicon spheroidizing agents.
