The hot-dip galvanized zinc layer is thicker, more corrosion-resistant, and of better quality, but its surface is darker and gray in color, making it suitable for humid environments.

However, it is worth noting that the cold galvanized layer is galvanized at room temperature through electroplating or other methods, and its thickness is generally only 20-30 μ m; Hot dip galvanizing is carried out in a plating tank at 450-480 ℃. To obtain a smooth and thin zinc layer, high-temperature hot-dip galvanizing can be used.
High temperature hot-dip galvanizing is generally carried out in a plating tank with a temperature of 530 ℃ to 560 ℃, and the obtained surface is usually dull.
To avoid the occurrence of small cracks, bolts, screws, and studs with a specification of M27 or above and a performance level of 10.9 should not be subjected to high-temperature galvanizing process. Hot dip ammonium zinc plating should be avoided in plating tanks with temperatures ranging from 480 ° C to 530 ° C.

Hot dip galvanizing is suitable for long-term rust prevention of steel parts used in outdoor work, such as power towers, large-sized fasteners, and other relatively "rough" workpieces. Early iron water pipes were also hot-dip galvanized.
Electrogalvanizing is mostly used for rust prevention of indoor components, such as chassis bottoms, panels, small-sized fasteners, etc.
