Soluble in acetone, tetrahydrofuran, N, N-dimethylformamide, dimethyl sulfoxide, and acetonitrile, slightly soluble in water and acetic acid, insoluble in ether, hexane, and carbon tetrachloride. NBS is commonly used in radical bromination reactions of allyl and benzyl groups; Electrophilic bromination reactions of ketones, aromatic compounds, or heterocyclic compounds; Hydroxylation, etherification, and lactonization reactions of olefins. NBS is sensitive to moisture and should be stored in a refrigerator. During use, avoid inhaling or sticking to the skin, and generally operate in a well ventilated fume hood.Water solubility: Slightly soluble in water and acetic acid, soluble in acetone, tetrahydrofuran, dimethylformamide, dimethyl sulfoxide.
