Why we usually use ABS material to produce, make electrical housing and other products？

ABS (acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene copolymer) is a commonly used thermoplastic, because of its good mechanical properties, chemical resistance and processing properties and is widely used in the manufacture of electrical housing and other products.

ABS injection moulding electrical housing process mainly includes the following steps:

1. Raw Material Preparation: First of all, you need to prepare ABS resin granules as raw materials. According to the product demand, may also need to add some auxiliary materials such as colouring agents, enhancers, etc. to improve the specific properties of the material.

2. Pre-treatment: The ABS granules are put into the dryer for drying treatment to remove moisture to avoid air bubbles or affecting product quality during subsequent processing.

3. HEATING AND MELTING: The dried ABS pellets are fed into the barrel of the injection moulding machine and heated at high temperature to a molten state. The temperature is usually between 200°C and 250°C, depending on the grade of ABS used and its formulation.

4. Injection: When the ABS is completely melted, it is injected into a pre-designed mould cavity by means of high pressure. The mould is a metal tool consisting of two or more parts whose internal shape matches the final electrical enclosure to be produced.

5. Cooling and shaping: The molten ABS injected into the mould is rapidly cooled and solidified inside the mould to form the desired shape. The cooling time varies depending on the size and thickness of the part, but is generally quick.

6. Opening and Removal: Once the ABS product has cooled and hardened sufficiently, the mould can be opened and the finished product removed from it. Sometimes the surface of the mould is coated with a release agent in order to facilitate removal.

7. Trimming Inspection: The product taken out of the mould may have slight burrs or other defects, which need to be trimmed and sanded. Finally, the products will also be subjected to a comprehensive quality check to ensure compliance with the standard requirements.

8. Post-processing: For some special-purpose electrical housings, further post-processing processes may be required, such as spray painting, silk-screen printing of patterned text and so on.

The whole process requires strict control of factors such as temperature, pressure as well as time to ensure the quality and consistency of the final product. In addition, with the development of technology, many factories now use automated production lines to improve efficiency and reduce human error.
