Specific application areas and components
Home appliance manufacturing
Refrigerator and air conditioner shells: used for large shell components such as refrigerator door panels and air conditioner panels. The high gloss of ABS sheets (high gloss level ≥ 90%) can improve the product grade. The easy processing (injection molding or thermoforming) supports complex design (such as curved door panels). Chemical resistance (resistance to detergent corrosion) ensures that long-term use does not change color.
Washing machine and microwave oven components: Washing machine inner drum cover, microwave oven control panel and other components need to take into account strength (withstand mechanical stress) and high temperature resistance (microwave oven surface temperature can reach 80°C). The heat deformation temperature of ABS sheets is 70-95°C (ordinary grade). The heat resistance can be further improved by surface coating (such as high temperature resistant PET film) to meet the safety standards of home appliances.
Small home appliance shells: The shells of products such as rice cookers, vacuum cleaners, and hair dryers. The high impact resistance of ABS sheets (cantilever beam notch impact strength ≥ 15kJ/m²) can prevent damage from falling. The surface can be electroplated (chrome-plated) to achieve a metallic texture and increase the added value of the product.
Electronics and electrical appliances
TV and monitor back cover: used for LCD TVs and computer monitors, the high rigidity of ABS sheet (flexural modulus 1800-2500MPa) can support the weight of internal circuit boards, and the flame retardant grade (UL94 V-0) complies with electrical safety regulations (such as IEC 60950), and the surface can be sprayed with electromagnetic shielding coating (such as conductive paint) to reduce electromagnetic interference.
Computer and keyboard components: keyboard key base, computer case side panels and other components need to take into account wear resistance (Rockwell hardness 85-100) and insulation (volume resistivity ≥10¹⁵Ω·cm). ABS sheet can be molded into complex structures (such as key buckles) by injection molding, and characters or patterns can be screen-printed on the surface to meet personalized needs.
Mobile phone and tablet protective case: ABS sheet can be injection molded into thin-walled structure (thickness 0.5-2mm), high gloss surface enhances texture, impact resistance (cantilever beam notch impact strength ≥15kJ/m²) can absorb falling energy and protect internal components, while supporting IML (in-mold decoration) process to achieve color pattern or texture effect.
Building decoration field
Indoor decorative sheet: used for office partitions, ceiling gussets, wall panels, etc., ABS sheet's high gloss (common grade ≥85%) and easy processing (thermoforming or cutting) support customized design (such as curved partitions, carved ceilings), chemical resistance (resistance to detergents, paint solvents) to ensure long-term use without fading.
Outdoor billboards and signs: Weather-resistant ABS sheets (with anti-UV agent added) can be used for outdoor billboards, shopping mall guide signs, etc. There is no obvious yellowing after long-term exposure to sunlight (tensile strength retention rate> 90%), and the surface can be screen-printed or laminated. The cost is lower than acrylic (PMMA) and the impact resistance is stronger (not easy to break due to strong winds or collisions).
Bathroom and kitchen parts: Wash basin panels, cabinet handles and other parts need to take into account water resistance and easy cleaning. The chemical resistance (resistance to water and detergents) and surface smoothness (gloss ≥ 85%) of ABS sheets make it an ideal choice. It can be made into arc or curved shapes through thermoforming to enhance the sense of design.
Automotive interiors
Instrument panels and center consoles: used for automotive instrument panel bases, center console housings and other parts. The high rigidity (flexural modulus 1800-2500MPa) of ABS sheets can support the installation of electronic components. Its high temperature resistance (short-term resistance to 100°C) meets the high temperature environment in the car in summer. The surface can be electroplated or sprayed with soft-touch paint (to enhance the feel).
Door panels and storage boxes: Car door interior panels, central storage boxes and other parts need to take into account impact resistance (cantilever beam notch impact strength ≥15kJ/m²) and wear resistance (Rockwell hardness 85-100). ABS sheets can be injection molded into complex structures (such as buckles and grooves), and the surface can be flocked or covered with leather to enhance the sense of luxury.
Air conditioning vents and grilles: Automobile air conditioning vent blades, front grilles and other parts require high dimensional stability (thermal expansion coefficient 6-8×10⁻⁵/℃) and weather resistance (UV resistance). Weather-resistant ABS sheets can resist yellowing caused by long-term UV radiation, ensuring a long-lasting appearance.
