How to Make Clear Acrylic Table Legs

1. Get Your Materials

First, buy transparent acrylic sheets (8mm thick is best). Ask the store to cut them to size for you—cutting them yourself is tricky and can look messy. You’ll also need acrylic glue, sandpaper, and polishing paste.

2. Smooth the Edges

Even if the store cuts the sheets, the edges might still feel rough. Start with rough sandpaper (180-grit) to shape them, then switch to fine sandpaper (400-grit or higher) to make them smooth. This step is super important—if you skip it, the legs will look cheap.

3. Glue the Pieces Together

Fit the acrylic pieces into the shape you want. For corners, use special acrylic glue—it works fast! Just hold the pieces together for a few seconds, but wait a full day for the glue to fully set. Use clamps to keep everything straight while drying (acrylic moves easily).

4. Polish for a Glass-Like Finish

After the glue dries, it’s time to polish. Start with very fine sandpaper (1000-grit or higher), then use polishing paste and a soft cloth. This part takes time, but it’s worth it—you’ll see the acrylic go from cloudy to perfectly clear!

5. Attach the Legs

Drill holes at the top of each leg and add metal brackets. Flange plates work well—they keep the table steady without ruining the see-through look.

-Wear gloves to avoid fingerprints.

-Work on a soft cloth—acrylic scratches easily.
