The engine is a 2.5L horizontally opposed four-cylinder producing 169 horsepower, paired with a CVT that simulates 8 gears, achieving a combined fuel consumption of 7.2 L/100 km. It features symmetrical all-wheel drive with X-MODE, a multi-plate clutch for limited slip, and can even handle sandy slopes with only one wheel on the ground. The chassis uses a MacPherson strut front suspension and a double wishbone rear suspension, with a ground clearance of 220 mm, providing stability at high speeds and smooth driving on rough roads. The steering rack is the same as the WRX, with reduced play compared to the older model. The EyeSight infotainment system comes standard with adaptive cruise control, lane centering, and collision avoidance braking, saving effort on long journeys.

Compared to the used XV, the new car adds connected car features and driver assistance systems; compared to commercial MPVs, it retains all-wheel drive and a compact size; compared to other new energy vehicles, it eliminates the hassle of charging stations, making it suitable for both city commuting and weekend light off-roading.
