The packaging industry's shift toward premium printed and film-laminated cartons has created a persistent challenge for adhesive engineers: conventional hot melts designed for bare kraft board simply do not bond reliably to smooth, low-energy laminated surfaces. Lamination protects and beautifies packaging, but it also creates a barrier between the adhesive and the paper fibers underneath.
