Material

ASTM A135 covers electric-resistance-welded (ERW) steel pipe for conveying steam, water, gas, and air, as well as for mechanical and pressure applications. Made from low-carbon steel, these pipes are classified into two grades, Grade A and Grade B, differentiated primarily by tensile strength.

Used for low- to medium-pressure service and general structural applications, the pipes feature uniform wall thickness, a smooth surface finish, and reliable weld integrity due to the ERW manufacturing process.

Steel Grade

Grade A: Low-carbon ERW pipe suitable for general-purpose, low-pressure applications.
Grade B: Medium-strength ERW pipe suitable for medium-pressure and higher mechanical load applications.

Both grades are supplied in the welded condition but can be heat-treated to improve ductility and toughness, if desired.
