Machine details

This fully automatic curved hot stamping machine is specifically designed for circumferential hot stamping of cylindrical plastic products with a diameter of less than 50mm, such as bottle caps and cosmetic caps. The machine consists of a loading system, a vertical turntable, a loading robot, a servo hot stamping device, an automatic rewinder, a touchscreen operation panel, and an unloading robot. Bottle caps are placed on the loading tray, where a screening mechanism arranges them in a specific order and feeds them onto a loading conveyor. The loading robot pushes the caps onto a dedicated fixture on the vertical turntable. The turntable then rotates counterclockwise, driving the fixture and the products through the dust removal, positioning, hot stamping, and unloading mechanisms. The unloading mechanism removes the hot stamped products and places them onto the unloading conveyor. The hot stamping machine is fully controlled by a servo system combined with a starting system, ensuring smooth operation and high precision, capable of reaching speeds of up to 2,500 caps per hour.

The Difference Between Hot Stamping and Thermal Transfer

In the plastic packaging decoration industry, hot stamping and thermal transfer play important roles. While they are closely related, they also have subtle differences. Hot stamping relies on metal foil to achieve a single or holographic metallic effect, while thermal transfer uses transfer film to reproduce full-color patterns.

Specific differences are as follows:

1. Transfer Media:

Hot stamping uses various colored metal foils, typically consisting of a polyester film base with a metal coating. Thermal transfer uses thermal transfer film (including a release layer, color layer, and adhesive layer), which can be pre-printed with full-color patterns.

2. Effects:

Hot stamping can only achieve single metallic colors such as gold and silver, or special textures such as matte and laser, but cannot produce multi-color or gradient effects. Thermal transfer supports full color, gradients, and photo-quality patterns, with high color reproduction and the ability to reproduce complex graphics. 3. Process Focus:

Hot stamping: Using high temperature and high pressure, the metal layer of the foil is peeled off and transferred to the substrate, creating a metallic texture. Thermal transfer: Using high temperature, the color and adhesive layers of the transfer film are melted, resulting in a complete transfer to the substrate, with the emphasis on image transfer.

4. Positioning:

Hot stamping foil has no pattern restrictions, requiring only a rough length limit for transport and no positioning requirements. Thermal transfer film, on the other hand, has an independent pattern integrity and requires positioning during transport. This requires a relative position relative to the product, thus requiring sensor control.

Bottle caps and their printing methods:

Bottle caps are used to seal the openings of containers (such as bottles and cans). They seal and protect the contents, preventing leakage, contamination, deterioration, or volatilization. They are used for storage and transportation, while also being convenient for opening and use. They are widely used in food and beverages (such as mineral water and beverage bottles), daily chemicals (such as shampoo and skincare products), and pharmaceuticals (such as medicine bottles).

Common printing methods for bottle caps include the following:

Silk screen printing: This method is widely applicable and can be used on metal, plastic, and glass bottle caps. It can be used on both the sides and tops of bottle caps. Common fully automatic screen printing machines are widely used.

Pad printing: This method can produce fine text or small designs and is often used for multi-color pad printing on the tops of plastic bottle caps. Fully automatic four-color rotary pad printers are an excellent example. Curved pad printers can be used to print on the sides of bottle caps, but are less efficient and limited to single-color printing. Hot stamping: Hot stamping of bottle caps is also common, particularly on the top and sides. Fully automatic flat-surface hot stamping machines can be used for hot stamping the top, while fully automatic curved-surface hot stamping machines can be used for hot stamping the sides. Using UV ink and ultraviolet light curing, designs are wear-resistant, scratch-resistant, and vibrantly colored. It can be used in conjunction with processes such as silk screen printing and flexographic printing, making it suitable for bottle caps requiring high durability. Currently, UV inkjet printers are relatively expensive.
