The inter-axle differential (IAD) sits at the highest point inside a tandem drive axle. It splits torque between the front and rear drive axles, letting them rotate at different speeds during turns. When the IAD fails, traction between axles is lost and metal debris contaminates the entire axle oil circuit.
We are Shaanxi Tolizer Machinery Equipment Co., Ltd., a China-based supplier focused on heavy-duty truck and axle components. Our team has over ten years of experience in the international commercial vehicle parts supply chain. We supply parts for Shacman, TONLY, SINOTRUK, LiuGong, and FAW vehicles to distributors and fleet workshops worldwide.
Our HD469-2510013 Inter-Axle Differential Half Assembly is a matched set of the three highest-wear IAD components: the differential housing (HD469-2510011), four planetary gears (HD469-2510013), and the cross shaft (HD469-2510014). It fits Hande HDZ300 and HD469 tandem drive axles used on Shacman F3000, X3000, M3000, X5000 trucks and TONLY mining vehicles. Also the direct fitment for Kamaz 6580 with Hande axles.
Choosing this half assembly means choosing a pre-matched set of the three components that fail together — so you replace the IAD once, correctly.

Surface Treatment: Housing spherical seats precision-machined. Planetary gear teeth ground after heat treatment. Cross shaft journals ground, polished, and induction-hardened. Anti-rust coating on all machined surfaces.
Manufacturing Process: Housing cast from high-strength iron or steel and machined on a combined fixture to ensure concentricity of the spherical seat and four cross shaft bores. Planetary gears forged from 20CrMnTi, carburized, quenched, and ground to final tooth profile. Cross shaft forged from 40Cr, quenched and tempered to HRC 30–34, journals induction-hardened. Assembled and checked for mesh and clearance before shipment.
Structure Diagram: Housing with four cross shaft bores and a central spherical seat for the planetary gears; four planetary gears that mesh with the side gears and rotate on the cross shaft; one cross shaft with a long axis and two perpendicular short axes locating the four planetary gears inside the housing.
Installation Position: Installs inside the inter-axle differential housing at the top of the tandem axle, between the front and rear axle drive pinions. Receives torque from the input shaft and distributes it to the front and rear axle output shafts. Splash-lubricated from the main reducer and bridge box — the IAD sits at the highest point and is the last component to receive oil.

Product Principle: Torque enters through the input shaft, which drives the differential housing. The housing carries the cross shaft, and the four planetary gears rotate on the cross shaft journals. The gears mesh with two side gears connected to the front and rear axle output shafts. When both axles have equal traction, the planetary gears do not rotate on their shafts — the assembly turns as one unit. When traction differs, the gears rotate, letting one axle turn faster. The critical wear point is the interface between the planetary gear bores and the cross shaft journals, which must maintain an oil film under reversing loads and high contact pressure.
Diagnostic Note: IAD failure on Hande HDZ300 axles is often misdiagnosed as a main reducer or wheel bearing problem. Watch for: Grinding or rumbling noise from the middle of the tandem axle that changes with speed but not with turning — this points to the IAD. Vibration through the cab floor that increases under load — the cross shaft or planetary gears are worn. Metal debris in the bridge box oil — the IAD sits at the highest point and is the last to receive oil; check the bridge box level and the IAD filler port. Inter-axle lock will not engage or disengages under load — the planetary gears or cross shaft are worn past the point where the lock mechanism can engage.
Two failure modes specific to the IAD must be checked before ordering a replacement. First, lubrication starvation — the IAD is splash-lubricated and sits above the oil level. If the axle ran low on oil or the IAD filler port was not used during the last oil change, the IAD runs dry and the planetary gears seize on the cross shaft. Second, speed ratio mismatch — if the front and rear axles have different final drive ratios, the IAD runs continuously at high speed, overheats, and destroys itself even with correct oil. Before replacing the IAD, verify that the front and rear axle speed ratios match the original specification by checking the ring and pinion tooth counts on both axles.
